زُيِّنَلِلَّذِينَكَفَرُواْٱلۡحَيَوٰةُٱلدُّنۡيَاوَيَسۡخَرُونَمِنَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُواْۘوَٱلَّذِينَٱتَّقَوۡاْفَوۡقَهُمۡيَوۡمَٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗوَٱللَّهُيَرۡزُقُمَنيَشَآءُبِغَيۡرِحِسَابٖ٢١٢
Saheeh International

Beautified for those who disbelieve is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe. But those who fear Allāh are above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allāh gives provision to whom He wills without account.

زُيِّنَZuyyina
لِلَّذِينَlillatheena
كَفَرُوا۟kafaroo
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُalhayatu
ٱلدُّنْيَاalddunya
وَيَسْخَرُونَwayaskharoona
مِنَmina
ٱلَّذِينَallatheena
ءَامَنُوا۟ ۘamanoo
وَٱلَّذِينَwaallatheena
ٱتَّقَوْا۟ittaqaw
فَوْقَهُمْfawqahum
يَوْمَyawma
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗalqiyamati
وَٱللَّهُwaAllahu
يَرْزُقُyarzuqu
مَنman
يَشَآءُyashao
بِغَيْرِbighayri
حِسَابٍۢhisabin
فَلۡيَضۡحَكُواْقَلِيلٗاوَلۡيَبۡكُواْكَثِيرٗاجَزَآءَۢبِمَاكَانُواْيَكۡسِبُونَ٨٢
Saheeh International

So let them laugh a little and [then] weep much as recompense for what they used to earn.

فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟Falyadhakoo
قَلِيلًۭاqaleelan
وَلْيَبْكُوا۟walyabkoo
كَثِيرًۭاkatheeran
جَزَآءًۢjazaan
بِمَاbima
كَانُوا۟kanoo
يَكْسِبُونَyaksiboona
وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥقَآئِمَةٞفَضَحِكَتۡفَبَشَّرۡنَٰهَابِإِسۡحَٰقَوَمِنوَرَآءِإِسۡحَٰقَيَعۡقُوبَ٧١
Saheeh International

And his wife was standing, and she smiled.1 Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob.

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥWaimraatuhu
قَآئِمَةٌۭqaimatun
فَضَحِكَتْfadahikat
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهَاfabashsharnaha
بِإِسْحَـٰقَbiishaqa
وَمِنwamin
وَرَآءِwarai
إِسْحَـٰقَishaqa
يَعْقُوبَyaAAqooba
23:110
Open Ayah
فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡسِخۡرِيًّاحَتَّىٰٓأَنسَوۡكُمۡذِكۡرِيوَكُنتُممِّنۡهُمۡتَضۡحَكُونَ١١٠
Saheeh International

But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.

فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْFaittakhathtumoohum
سِخْرِيًّاsikhriyyan
حَتَّىٰٓhatta
أَنسَوْكُمْansawkum
ذِكْرِىthikree
وَكُنتُمwakuntum
مِّنْهُمْminhum
تَضْحَكُونَtadhakoona
فَتَبَسَّمَضَاحِكٗامِّنقَوۡلِهَاوَقَالَرَبِّأَوۡزِعۡنِيٓأَنۡأَشۡكُرَنِعۡمَتَكَٱلَّتِيٓأَنۡعَمۡتَعَلَيَّوَعَلَىٰوَٰلِدَيَّوَأَنۡأَعۡمَلَصَٰلِحٗاتَرۡضَىٰهُوَأَدۡخِلۡنِيبِرَحۡمَتِكَفِيعِبَادِكَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ١٩
Saheeh International

So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me1 to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."2

فَتَبَسَّمَFatabassama
ضَاحِكًۭاdahikan
مِّنmin
قَوْلِهَاqawliha
وَقَالَwaqala
رَبِّrabbi
أَوْزِعْنِىٓawziAAnee
أَنْan
أَشْكُرَashkura
نِعْمَتَكَniAAmataka
ٱلَّتِىٓallatee
أَنْعَمْتَanAAamta
عَلَىَّAAalayya
وَعَلَىٰwaAAala
وَٰلِدَىَّwalidayya
وَأَنْwaan
أَعْمَلَaAAmala
صَـٰلِحًۭاsalihan
تَرْضَىٰهُtardahu
وَأَدْخِلْنِىwaadkhilnee
بِرَحْمَتِكَbirahmatika
فِىfee
عِبَادِكَAAibadika
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَalssaliheena
بَلۡعَجِبۡتَوَيَسۡخَرُونَ١٢
Saheeh International

But you wonder, while they mock,

بَلْBal
عَجِبْتَAAajibta
وَيَسْخَرُونَwayaskharoona
وَإِذَارَأَوۡاْءَايَةٗيَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ١٤
Saheeh International

And when they see a sign, they ridicule.

وَإِذَاWaitha
رَأَوْا۟raaw
ءَايَةًۭayatan
يَسْتَسْخِرُونَyastaskhiroona
فَلَمَّاجَآءَهُمبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآإِذَاهُممِّنۡهَايَضۡحَكُونَ٤٧
Saheeh International

But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.

فَلَمَّاFalamma
جَآءَهُمjaahum
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiayatina
إِذَاitha
هُمhum
مِّنْهَاminha
يَضْحَكُونَyadhakoona
۞ وَلَمَّاضُرِبَٱبۡنُمَرۡيَمَمَثَلًاإِذَاقَوۡمُكَمِنۡهُيَصِدُّونَ٥٧
Saheeh International

And when the son of Mary was presented as an example,1 immediately your people laughed aloud.

۞ وَلَمَّاWalamma
ضُرِبَduriba
ٱبْنُibnu
مَرْيَمَmaryama
مَثَلًاmathalan
إِذَاitha
قَوْمُكَqawmuka
مِنْهُminhu
يَصِدُّونَyasiddoona
وَأَنَّهُۥهُوَأَضۡحَكَوَأَبۡكَىٰ٤٣
Saheeh International

And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep

وَأَنَّهُۥWaannahu
هُوَhuwa
أَضْحَكَadhaka
وَأَبْكَىٰwaabka
أَفَمِنۡهَٰذَاٱلۡحَدِيثِتَعۡجَبُونَ٥٩
Saheeh International

Then at this statement do you wonder?

أَفَمِنْAfamin
هَـٰذَاhatha
ٱلْحَدِيثِalhadeethi
تَعْجَبُونَtaAAjaboona
وَتَضۡحَكُونَوَلَاتَبۡكُونَ٦٠
Saheeh International

And you laugh and do not weep

وَتَضْحَكُونَWatadhakoona
وَلَاwala
تَبْكُونَtabkoona
وَأَنتُمۡسَٰمِدُونَ٦١
Saheeh International

While you are proudly sporting?1

وَأَنتُمْWaantum
سَـٰمِدُونَsamidoona
وُجُوهٞيَوۡمَئِذٖمُّسۡفِرَةٞ٣٨
Saheeh International

[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -

وُجُوهٌۭWujoohun
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawmaithin
مُّسْفِرَةٌۭmusfiratun
ضَاحِكَةٞمُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةٞ٣٩
Saheeh International

Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

ضَاحِكَةٌۭDahikatun
مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌۭmustabshiratun
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَأَجۡرَمُواْكَانُواْمِنَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُواْيَضۡحَكُونَ٢٩
Saheeh International

Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

إِنَّInna
ٱلَّذِينَallatheena
أَجْرَمُوا۟ajramoo
كَانُوا۟kanoo
مِنَmina
ٱلَّذِينَallatheena
ءَامَنُوا۟amanoo
يَضْحَكُونَyadhakoona
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُواْمِنَٱلۡكُفَّارِيَضۡحَكُونَ٣٤
Saheeh International

So Today1 those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

فَٱلْيَوْمَFaalyawma
ٱلَّذِينَallatheena
ءَامَنُوا۟amanoo
مِنَmina
ٱلْكُفَّارِalkuffari
يَضْحَكُونَyadhakoona
