إِذۡيُرِيكَهُمُٱللَّهُفِيمَنَامِكَقَلِيلٗاۖوَلَوۡأَرَىٰكَهُمۡكَثِيرٗالَّفَشِلۡتُمۡوَلَتَنَٰزَعۡتُمۡفِيٱلۡأَمۡرِوَلَٰكِنَّٱللَّهَسَلَّمَۚإِنَّهُۥعَلِيمُۢبِذَاتِٱلصُّدُورِ٤٣
Saheeh International

[Remember, O Muḥammad], when Allāh showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allāh saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

إِذْIth
يُرِيكَهُمُyureekahumu
ٱللَّهُAllahu
فِىfee
مَنَامِكَmanamika
قَلِيلًۭا ۖqaleelan
وَلَوْwalaw
أَرَىٰكَهُمْarakahum
كَثِيرًۭاkatheeran
لَّفَشِلْتُمْlafashiltum
وَلَتَنَـٰزَعْتُمْwalatanazaAAtum
فِىfee
ٱلْأَمْرِalamri
وَلَـٰكِنَّwalakinna
ٱللَّهَAllaha
سَلَّمَ ۗsallama
إِنَّهُۥinnahu
عَلِيمٌۢAAaleemun
بِذَاتِbithati
ٱلصُّدُورِalssudoori
12:100
Open Ayah
وَرَفَعَأَبَوَيۡهِعَلَىٱلۡعَرۡشِوَخَرُّواْلَهُۥسُجَّدٗاۖوَقَالَيَٰٓأَبَتِهَٰذَاتَأۡوِيلُرُءۡيَٰيَمِنقَبۡلُقَدۡجَعَلَهَارَبِّيحَقّٗاۖوَقَدۡأَحۡسَنَبِيٓإِذۡأَخۡرَجَنِيمِنَٱلسِّجۡنِوَجَآءَبِكُممِّنَٱلۡبَدۡوِمِنۢبَعۡدِأَننَّزَغَٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُبَيۡنِيوَبَيۡنَإِخۡوَتِيٓۚإِنَّرَبِّيلَطِيفٞلِّمَايَشَآءُۚإِنَّهُۥهُوَٱلۡعَلِيمُٱلۡحَكِيمُ١٠٠
Saheeh International

And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration.1 And he said, "O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you [here] from bedouin life after Satan had induced [estrangement] between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Subtle2 in what He wills. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.

وَرَفَعَWarafaAAa
أَبَوَيْهِabawayhi
عَلَىAAala
ٱلْعَرْشِalAAarshi
وَخَرُّوا۟wakharroo
لَهُۥlahu
سُجَّدًۭا ۖsujjadan
وَقَالَwaqala
يَـٰٓأَبَتِyaabati
هَـٰذَاhatha
تَأْوِيلُtaweelu
رُءْيَـٰىَruyaya
مِنmin
قَبْلُqablu
قَدْqad
جَعَلَهَاjaAAalaha
رَبِّىrabbee
حَقًّۭا ۖhaqqan
وَقَدْwaqad
أَحْسَنَahsana
بِىٓbee
إِذْith
أَخْرَجَنِىakhrajanee
مِنَmina
ٱلسِّجْنِalssijni
وَجَآءَwajaa
بِكُمbikum
مِّنَmina
ٱلْبَدْوِalbadwi
مِنۢmin
بَعْدِbaAAdi
أَنan
نَّزَغَnazagha
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُalshshaytanu
بَيْنِىbaynee
وَبَيْنَwabayna
إِخْوَتِىٓ ۚikhwatee
إِنَّinna
رَبِّىrabbee
لَطِيفٌۭlateefun
لِّمَاlima
يَشَآءُ ۚyashao
إِنَّهُۥinnahu
هُوَhuwa
ٱلْعَلِيمُalAAaleemu
ٱلْحَكِيمُalhakeemu
وَدَخَلَمَعَهُٱلسِّجۡنَفَتَيَانِۖقَالَأَحَدُهُمَآإِنِّيٓأَرَىٰنِيٓأَعۡصِرُخَمۡرٗاۖوَقَالَٱلۡأٓخَرُإِنِّيٓأَرَىٰنِيٓأَحۡمِلُفَوۡقَرَأۡسِيخُبۡزٗاتَأۡكُلُٱلطَّيۡرُمِنۡهُۖنَبِّئۡنَابِتَأۡوِيلِهِۦٓۖإِنَّانَرَىٰكَمِنَٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ٣٦
Saheeh International

And there entered the prison with him two young men. One of them said, "Indeed, I have seen myself [in a dream] pressing [grapes for] wine." The other said, "Indeed, I have seen myself carrying upon my head [some] bread, from which the birds were eating. Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good."

وَدَخَلَWadakhala
مَعَهُmaAAahu
ٱلسِّجْنَalssijna
فَتَيَانِ ۖfatayani
قَالَqala
أَحَدُهُمَآahaduhuma
إِنِّىٓinnee
أَرَىٰنِىٓaranee
أَعْصِرُaAAsiru
خَمْرًۭا ۖkhamran
وَقَالَwaqala
ٱلْـَٔاخَرُalakharu
إِنِّىٓinnee
أَرَىٰنِىٓaranee
أَحْمِلُahmilu
فَوْقَfawqa
رَأْسِىrasee
خُبْزًۭاkhubzan
تَأْكُلُtakulu
ٱلطَّيْرُalttayru
مِنْهُ ۖminhu
نَبِّئْنَاnabbina
بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦٓ ۖbitaweelihi
إِنَّاinna
نَرَىٰكَnaraka
مِنَmina
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَalmuhsineena
إِذۡقَالَيُوسُفُلِأَبِيهِيَٰٓأَبَتِإِنِّيرَأَيۡتُأَحَدَعَشَرَكَوۡكَبٗاوَٱلشَّمۡسَوَٱلۡقَمَرَرَأَيۡتُهُمۡلِيسَٰجِدِينَ٤
Saheeh International

[Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father,1 "O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me."

إِذْIth
قَالَqala
يُوسُفُyoosufu
لِأَبِيهِliabeehi
يَـٰٓأَبَتِyaabati
إِنِّىinnee
رَأَيْتُraaytu
أَحَدَahada
عَشَرَAAashara
كَوْكَبًۭاkawkaban
وَٱلشَّمْسَwaalshshamsa
وَٱلْقَمَرَwaalqamara
رَأَيْتُهُمْraaytuhum
لِىlee
سَـٰجِدِينَsajideena
وَقَالَٱلۡمَلِكُإِنِّيٓأَرَىٰسَبۡعَبَقَرَٰتٖسِمَانٖيَأۡكُلُهُنَّسَبۡعٌعِجَافٞوَسَبۡعَسُنۢبُلَٰتٍخُضۡرٖوَأُخَرَيَابِسَٰتٖۖيَٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلۡمَلَأُأَفۡتُونِيفِيرُءۡيَٰيَإِنكُنتُمۡلِلرُّءۡيَاتَعۡبُرُونَ٤٣
Saheeh International

And [subsequently] the king said, "Indeed, I have seen [in a dream] seven fat cows being eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry. O eminent ones, explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions."

وَقَالَWaqala
ٱلْمَلِكُalmaliku
إِنِّىٓinnee
أَرَىٰara
سَبْعَsabAAa
بَقَرَٰتٍۢbaqaratin
سِمَانٍۢsimanin
يَأْكُلُهُنَّyakuluhunna
سَبْعٌsabAAun
عِجَافٌۭAAijafun
وَسَبْعَwasabAAa
سُنۢبُلَـٰتٍsunbulatin
خُضْرٍۢkhudrin
وَأُخَرَwaokhara
يَابِسَـٰتٍۢ ۖyabisatin
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyaayyuha
ٱلْمَلَأُalmalao
أَفْتُونِىaftoonee
فِىfee
رُءْيَـٰىَruyaya
إِنin
كُنتُمْkuntum
لِلرُّءْيَاlilrruya
تَعْبُرُونَtaAAburoona
قَالُوٓاْأَضۡغَٰثُأَحۡلَٰمٖۖوَمَانَحۡنُبِتَأۡوِيلِٱلۡأَحۡلَٰمِبِعَٰلِمِينَ٤٤
Saheeh International

They said, "[It is but] a mixture of false dreams, and we are not learned in the interpretation of dreams."

قَالُوٓا۟Qaloo
أَضْغَـٰثُadghathu
أَحْلَـٰمٍۢ ۖahlamin
وَمَاwama
نَحْنُnahnu
بِتَأْوِيلِbitaweeli
ٱلْأَحْلَـٰمِalahlami
بِعَـٰلِمِينَbiAAalimeena
وَقَالَٱلَّذِينَجَامِنۡهُمَاوَٱدَّكَرَبَعۡدَأُمَّةٍأَنَا۠أُنَبِّئُكُمبِتَأۡوِيلِهِۦفَأَرۡسِلُونِ٤٥
Saheeh International

But the one who was freed and remembered after a time said, "I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me forth."

وَقَالَWaqala
ٱلَّذِىallathee
نَجَاnaja
مِنْهُمَاminhuma
وَٱدَّكَرَwaiddakara
بَعْدَbaAAda
أُمَّةٍommatin
أَنَا۠ana
أُنَبِّئُكُمonabbiokum
بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦbitaweelihi
فَأَرْسِلُونِfaarsilooni
يُوسُفُأَيُّهَاٱلصِّدِّيقُأَفۡتِنَافِيسَبۡعِبَقَرَٰتٖسِمَانٖيَأۡكُلُهُنَّسَبۡعٌعِجَافٞوَسَبۡعِسُنۢبُلَٰتٍخُضۡرٖوَأُخَرَيَابِسَٰتٖلَّعَلِّيٓأَرۡجِعُإِلَىٱلنَّاسِلَعَلَّهُمۡيَعۡلَمُونَ٤٦
Saheeh International

[He said], "Joseph, O man of truth, explain to us about seven fat cows eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry - that I may return to the people [i.e., the king and his court]; perhaps they will know [about you]."

يُوسُفُYoosufu
أَيُّهَاayyuha
ٱلصِّدِّيقُalssiddeequ
أَفْتِنَاaftina
فِىfee
سَبْعِsabAAi
بَقَرَٰتٍۢbaqaratin
سِمَانٍۢsimanin
يَأْكُلُهُنَّyakuluhunna
سَبْعٌsabAAun
عِجَافٌۭAAijafun
وَسَبْعِwasabAAi
سُنۢبُلَـٰتٍsunbulatin
خُضْرٍۢkhudrin
وَأُخَرَwaokhara
يَابِسَـٰتٍۢyabisatin
لَّعَلِّىٓlaAAallee
أَرْجِعُarjiAAu
إِلَىila
ٱلنَّاسِalnnasi
لَعَلَّهُمْlaAAallahum
يَعْلَمُونَyaAAlamoona
قَالَتَزۡرَعُونَسَبۡعَسِنِينَدَأَبٗافَمَاحَصَدتُّمۡفَذَرُوهُفِيسُنۢبُلِهِۦٓإِلَّاقَلِيلٗامِّمَّاتَأۡكُلُونَ٤٧
Saheeh International

[Joseph] said, "You will plant for seven years consecutively; and what you harvest leave in its spikes, except a little from which you will eat.

قَالَQala
تَزْرَعُونَtazraAAoona
سَبْعَsabAAa
سِنِينَsineena
دَأَبًۭاdaaban
فَمَاfama
حَصَدتُّمْhasadtum
فَذَرُوهُfatharoohu
فِىfee
سُنۢبُلِهِۦٓsunbulihi
إِلَّاilla
قَلِيلًۭاqaleelan
مِّمَّاmimma
تَأْكُلُونَtakuloona
ثُمَّيَأۡتِيمِنۢبَعۡدِذَٰلِكَسَبۡعٞشِدَادٞيَأۡكُلۡنَمَاقَدَّمۡتُمۡلَهُنَّإِلَّاقَلِيلٗامِّمَّاتُحۡصِنُونَ٤٨
Saheeh International

Then will come after that seven difficult [years] which will consume what you advanced [i.e., saved] for them, except a little from which you will store.

ثُمَّThumma
يَأْتِىyatee
مِنۢmin
بَعْدِbaAAdi
ذَٰلِكَthalika
سَبْعٌۭsabAAun
شِدَادٌۭshidadun
يَأْكُلْنَyakulna
مَاma
قَدَّمْتُمْqaddamtum
لَهُنَّlahunna
إِلَّاilla
قَلِيلًۭاqaleelan
مِّمَّاmimma
تُحْصِنُونَtuhsinoona
ثُمَّيَأۡتِيمِنۢبَعۡدِذَٰلِكَعَامٞفِيهِيُغَاثُٱلنَّاسُوَفِيهِيَعۡصِرُونَ٤٩
Saheeh International

Then will come after that a year in which the people will be given rain and in which they will press [olives and grapes]."

ثُمَّThumma
يَأْتِىyatee
مِنۢmin
بَعْدِbaAAdi
ذَٰلِكَthalika
عَامٌۭAAamun
فِيهِfeehi
يُغَاثُyughathu
ٱلنَّاسُalnnasu
وَفِيهِwafeehi
يَعْصِرُونَyaAAsiroona
قَالَيَٰبُنَيَّلَاتَقۡصُصۡرُءۡيَاكَعَلَىٰٓإِخۡوَتِكَفَيَكِيدُواْلَكَكَيۡدًاۖإِنَّٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَلِلۡإِنسَٰنِعَدُوّٞمُّبِينٞ٥
Saheeh International

He said, "O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan, to man, is a manifest enemy.

قَالَQala
يَـٰبُنَىَّyabunayya
لَاla
تَقْصُصْtaqsus
رُءْيَاكَruyaka
عَلَىٰٓAAala
إِخْوَتِكَikhwatika
فَيَكِيدُوا۟fayakeedoo
لَكَlaka
كَيْدًا ۖkaydan
إِنَّinna
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَalshshaytana
لِلْإِنسَـٰنِlilinsani
عَدُوٌّۭAAaduwwun
مُّبِينٌۭmubeenun
