Despair not of the Mercy of Allah (see also Jonah)

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِإِذذَّهَبَمُغَٰضِبٗافَظَنَّأَنلَّننَّقۡدِرَعَلَيۡهِفَنَادَىٰفِيٱلظُّلُمَٰتِأَنلَّآإِلَٰهَإِلَّآأَنتَسُبۡحَٰنَكَإِنِّيكُنتُمِنَٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ٨٧
Saheeh International

And [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger1 and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him.2 And he called out within the darknesses,3 "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِWathaalnnooni
إِذith
ذَّهَبَthahaba
مُغَـٰضِبًۭاmughadiban
فَظَنَّfathanna
أَنan
لَّنlan
نَّقْدِرَnaqdira
عَلَيْهِAAalayhi
فَنَادَىٰfanada
فِىfee
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِalththulumati
أَنan
لَّآla
إِلَـٰهَilaha
إِلَّآilla
أَنتَanta
سُبْحَـٰنَكَsubhanaka
إِنِّىinnee
كُنتُkuntu
مِنَmina
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَalththalimeena
فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَالَهُۥوَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُمِنَٱلۡغَمِّۚوَكَذَٰلِكَنُـۨجِيٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ٨٨
Saheeh International

So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَاFaistajabna
لَهُۥlahu
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُwanajjaynahu
مِنَmina
ٱلْغَمِّ ۚalghammi
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakathalika
نُـۨجِىnunjee
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَalmumineena
۞ قُلۡيَٰعِبَادِيَٱلَّذِينَأَسۡرَفُواْعَلَىٰٓأَنفُسِهِمۡلَاتَقۡنَطُواْمِنرَّحۡمَةِٱللَّهِۚإِنَّٱللَّهَيَغۡفِرُٱلذُّنُوبَجَمِيعًاۚإِنَّهُۥهُوَٱلۡغَفُورُٱلرَّحِيمُ٥٣
Saheeh International

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh forgives all sins.1 Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

۞ قُلْQul
يَـٰعِبَادِىَyaAAibadiya
ٱلَّذِينَallatheena
أَسْرَفُوا۟asrafoo
عَلَىٰٓAAala
أَنفُسِهِمْanfusihim
لَاla
تَقْنَطُوا۟taqnatoo
مِنmin
رَّحْمَةِrahmati
ٱللَّهِ ۚAllahi
إِنَّinna
ٱللَّهَAllaha
يَغْفِرُyaghfiru
ٱلذُّنُوبَalththunooba
جَمِيعًا ۚjameeAAan
إِنَّهُۥinnahu
هُوَhuwa
ٱلْغَفُورُalghafooru
ٱلرَّحِيمُalrraheemu
فَٱصۡبِرۡلِحُكۡمِرَبِّكَوَلَاتَكُنكَصَاحِبِٱلۡحُوتِإِذۡنَادَىٰوَهُوَمَكۡظُومٞ٤٨
Saheeh International

Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muḥammad], and be not like the companion of the fish [i.e., Jonah] when he called out while he was distressed.

فَٱصْبِرْFaisbir
لِحُكْمِlihukmi
رَبِّكَrabbika
وَلَاwala
تَكُنtakun
كَصَاحِبِkasahibi
ٱلْحُوتِalhooti
إِذْith
نَادَىٰnada
وَهُوَwahuwa
مَكْظُومٌۭmakthoomun
لَّوۡلَآأَنتَدَٰرَكَهُۥنِعۡمَةٞمِّنرَّبِّهِۦلَنُبِذَبِٱلۡعَرَآءِوَهُوَمَذۡمُومٞ٤٩
Saheeh International

If not that a favor [i.e., mercy] from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.1

لَّوْلَآLawla
أَنan
تَدَٰرَكَهُۥtadarakahu
نِعْمَةٌۭniAAmatun
مِّنmin
رَّبِّهِۦrabbihi
لَنُبِذَlanubitha
بِٱلْعَرَآءِbialAAarai
وَهُوَwahuwa
مَذْمُومٌۭmathmoomun
فَٱجۡتَبَٰهُرَبُّهُۥفَجَعَلَهُۥمِنَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ٥٠
Saheeh International

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُFaijtabahu
رَبُّهُۥrabbuhu
فَجَعَلَهُۥfajaAAalahu
مِنَmina
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَalssaliheena
