هُوَٱلَّذِييُسَيِّرُكُمۡفِيٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِۖحَتَّىٰٓإِذَاكُنتُمۡفِيٱلۡفُلۡكِوَجَرَيۡنَبِهِمبِرِيحٖطَيِّبَةٖوَفَرِحُواْبِهَاجَآءَتۡهَارِيحٌعَاصِفٞوَجَآءَهُمُٱلۡمَوۡجُمِنكُلِّمَكَانٖوَظَنُّوٓاْأَنَّهُمۡأُحِيطَبِهِمۡدَعَوُاْٱللَّهَمُخۡلِصِينَلَهُٱلدِّينَلَئِنۡأَنجَيۡتَنَامِنۡهَٰذِهِۦلَنَكُونَنَّمِنَٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ٢٢
Saheeh International

It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them1 by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from every place and they expect to be engulfed, they supplicate Allāh, sincere to Him in religion, "If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful."

هُوَHuwa
ٱلَّذِىallathee
يُسَيِّرُكُمْyusayyirukum
فِىfee
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖwaalbahri
حَتَّىٰٓhatta
إِذَاitha
كُنتُمْkuntum
فِىfee
ٱلْفُلْكِalfulki
وَجَرَيْنَwajarayna
بِهِمbihim
بِرِيحٍۢbireehin
طَيِّبَةٍۢtayyibatin
وَفَرِحُوا۟wafarihoo
بِهَاbiha
جَآءَتْهَاjaatha
رِيحٌreehun
عَاصِفٌۭAAasifun
وَجَآءَهُمُwajaahumu
ٱلْمَوْجُalmawju
مِنmin
كُلِّkulli
مَكَانٍۢmakanin
وَظَنُّوٓا۟wathannoo
أَنَّهُمْannahum
أُحِيطَoheeta
بِهِمْ ۙbihim
دَعَوُا۟daAAawoo
ٱللَّهَAllaha
مُخْلِصِينَmukhliseena
لَهُlahu
ٱلدِّينَalddeena
لَئِنْlain
أَنجَيْتَنَاanjaytana
مِنْmin
هَـٰذِهِۦhathihi
لَنَكُونَنَّlanakoonanna
مِنَmina
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَalshshakireena
وَهِيَتَجۡرِيبِهِمۡفِيمَوۡجٖكَٱلۡجِبَالِوَنَادَىٰنُوحٌٱبۡنَهُۥوَكَانَفِيمَعۡزِلٖيَٰبُنَيَّٱرۡكَبمَّعَنَاوَلَاتَكُنمَّعَٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ٤٢
Saheeh International

And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers."

وَهِىَWahiya
تَجْرِىtajree
بِهِمْbihim
فِىfee
مَوْجٍۢmawjin
كَٱلْجِبَالِkaaljibali
وَنَادَىٰwanada
نُوحٌnoohunu
ٱبْنَهُۥibnahu
وَكَانَwakana
فِىfee
مَعْزِلٍۢmaAAzilin
يَـٰبُنَىَّyabunayya
ٱرْكَبirkab
مَّعَنَاmaAAana
وَلَاwala
تَكُنtakun
مَّعَmaAAa
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَalkafireena
قَالَسَـَٔاوِيٓإِلَىٰجَبَلٖيَعۡصِمُنِيمِنَٱلۡمَآءِۚقَالَلَاعَاصِمَٱلۡيَوۡمَمِنۡأَمۡرِٱللَّهِإِلَّامَنرَّحِمَۚوَحَالَبَيۡنَهُمَاٱلۡمَوۡجُفَكَانَمِنَٱلۡمُغۡرَقِينَ٤٣
Saheeh International

[But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no protector today from the decree of Allāh, except for whom He gives mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.

قَالَQala
سَـَٔاوِىٓsaawee
إِلَىٰila
جَبَلٍۢjabalin
يَعْصِمُنِىyaAAsimunee
مِنَmina
ٱلْمَآءِ ۚalmai
قَالَqala
لَاla
عَاصِمَAAasima
ٱلْيَوْمَalyawma
مِنْmin
أَمْرِamri
ٱللَّهِAllahi
إِلَّاilla
مَنman
رَّحِمَ ۚrahima
وَحَالَwahala
بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahuma
ٱلْمَوْجُalmawju
فَكَانَfakana
مِنَmina
ٱلْمُغْرَقِينَalmughraqeena
۞ وَتَرَكۡنَابَعۡضَهُمۡيَوۡمَئِذٖيَمُوجُفِيبَعۡضٖۖوَنُفِخَفِيٱلصُّورِفَجَمَعۡنَٰهُمۡجَمۡعٗا٩٩
Saheeh International

And We will leave them that day1 surging over each other, and [then] the Horn will be blown, and We will assemble them in [one] assembly.

۞ وَتَرَكْنَاWatarakna
بَعْضَهُمْbaAAdahum
يَوْمَئِذٍۢyawmaithin
يَمُوجُyamooju
فِىfee
بَعْضٍۢ ۖbaAAdin
وَنُفِخَwanufikha
فِىfee
ٱلصُّورِalssoori
فَجَمَعْنَـٰهُمْfajamaAAnahum
جَمْعًۭاjamAAan
أَوۡكَظُلُمَٰتٖفِيبَحۡرٖلُّجِّيّٖيَغۡشَىٰهُمَوۡجٞمِّنفَوۡقِهِۦمَوۡجٞمِّنفَوۡقِهِۦسَحَابٞۚظُلُمَٰتُۢبَعۡضُهَافَوۡقَبَعۡضٍإِذَآأَخۡرَجَيَدَهُۥلَمۡيَكَدۡيَرَىٰهَاۗوَمَنلَّمۡيَجۡعَلِٱللَّهُلَهُۥنُورٗافَمَالَهُۥمِننُّورٍ٤٠
Saheeh International

Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allāh has not granted light - for him there is no light.

أَوْAw
كَظُلُمَـٰتٍۢkathulumatin
فِىfee
بَحْرٍۢbahrin
لُّجِّىٍّۢlujjiyyin
يَغْشَىٰهُyaghshahu
مَوْجٌۭmawjun
مِّنmin
فَوْقِهِۦfawqihi
مَوْجٌۭmawjun
مِّنmin
فَوْقِهِۦfawqihi
سَحَابٌۭ ۚsahabun
ظُلُمَـٰتٌۢthulumatun
بَعْضُهَاbaAAduha
فَوْقَfawqa
بَعْضٍbaAAdin
إِذَآitha
أَخْرَجَakhraja
يَدَهُۥyadahu
لَمْlam
يَكَدْyakad
يَرَىٰهَا ۗyaraha
وَمَنwaman
لَّمْlam
يَجْعَلِyajAAali
ٱللَّهُAllahu
لَهُۥlahu
نُورًۭاnooran
فَمَاfama
لَهُۥlahu
مِنmin
نُّورٍnoorin
وَإِذَاغَشِيَهُممَّوۡجٞكَٱلظُّلَلِدَعَوُاْٱللَّهَمُخۡلِصِينَلَهُٱلدِّينَفَلَمَّانَجَّىٰهُمۡإِلَىٱلۡبَرِّفَمِنۡهُممُّقۡتَصِدٞۚوَمَايَجۡحَدُبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآإِلَّاكُلُّخَتَّارٖكَفُورٖ٣٢
Saheeh International

And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allāh, sincere to Him in religion [i.e., faith]. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful.

وَإِذَاWaitha
غَشِيَهُمghashiyahum
مَّوْجٌۭmawjun
كَٱلظُّلَلِkaalththulali
دَعَوُا۟daAAawoo
ٱللَّهَAllaha
مُخْلِصِينَmukhliseena
لَهُlahu
ٱلدِّينَalddeena
فَلَمَّاfalamma
نَجَّىٰهُمْnajjahum
إِلَىila
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
فَمِنْهُمfaminhum
مُّقْتَصِدٌۭ ۚmuqtasidun
وَمَاwama
يَجْحَدُyajhadu
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiayatina
إِلَّاilla
كُلُّkullu
خَتَّارٍۢkhattarin
كَفُورٍۢkafoorin
وَمَايَسۡتَوِيٱلۡبَحۡرَانِهَٰذَاعَذۡبٞفُرَاتٞسَآئِغٞشَرَابُهُۥوَهَٰذَامِلۡحٌأُجَاجٞۖوَمِنكُلّٖتَأۡكُلُونَلَحۡمٗاطَرِيّٗاوَتَسۡتَخۡرِجُونَحِلۡيَةٗتَلۡبَسُونَهَاۖوَتَرَىٱلۡفُلۡكَفِيهِمَوَاخِرَلِتَبۡتَغُواْمِنفَضۡلِهِۦوَلَعَلَّكُمۡتَشۡكُرُونَ١٢
Saheeh International

And not alike are the two seas [i.e., bodies of water]. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.

وَمَاWama
يَسْتَوِىyastawee
ٱلْبَحْرَانِalbahrani
هَـٰذَاhatha
عَذْبٌۭAAathbun
فُرَاتٌۭfuratun
سَآئِغٌۭsaighun
شَرَابُهُۥsharabuhu
وَهَـٰذَاwahatha
مِلْحٌmilhun
أُجَاجٌۭ ۖojajun
وَمِنwamin
كُلٍّۢkullin
تَأْكُلُونَtakuloona
لَحْمًۭاlahman
طَرِيًّۭاtariyyan
وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَwatastakhrijoona
حِلْيَةًۭhilyatan
تَلْبَسُونَهَا ۖtalbasoonaha
وَتَرَىwatara
ٱلْفُلْكَalfulka
فِيهِfeehi
مَوَاخِرَmawakhira
لِتَبْتَغُوا۟litabtaghoo
مِنmin
فَضْلِهِۦfadlihi
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaAAallakum
تَشْكُرُونَtashkuroona
