Water

These¹ are two adversaries who have disputed over their Lord. But those who disbelieved will have cut out for them garments of fire. Poured upon their heads will be scalding water

By which is melted that within their bellies and [their] skins.

And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas [i.e., bodies of water], one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition.

Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but most of them do not know.

And not alike are the two seas [i.e., bodies of water]. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.

This - so let them taste it - is scalding water and [foul] purulence.

And other [punishments] of its type [in various] kinds.

Those who deny the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and that with which We sent Our messengers - they are going to know,

When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged

In boiling water; then in the Fire they will be filled [with flame].

Indeed, the tree of zaqqūm

Is food for the sinful.

Like murky oil, it boils within bellies

Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water."

Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered,¹ rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord... [Are its inhabitants] like those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?

He released the two seas,¹ meeting [one another];

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

And water poured out

And have you seen the water that you drink?

Say, "Have you considered: if your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?"

And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water.

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

For the transgressors, a place of return,

In which they will remain for ages [unending].

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink.

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

An appropriate recompense.¹

Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?
