33:10

إِذۡجَآءُوكُممِّنفَوۡقِكُمۡوَمِنۡأَسۡفَلَمِنكُمۡوَإِذۡزَاغَتِٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُوَبَلَغَتِٱلۡقُلُوبُٱلۡحَنَاجِرَوَتَظُنُّونَبِٱللَّهِٱلظُّنُونَا۠١٠

Saheeh International

[Remember] when they came at you from above you and from below you, and when eyes shifted [in fear], and hearts reached the throats, and you assumed about Allāh [various] assumptions.

إِذْIth

جَآءُوكُمjaookum

مِّنmin

فَوْقِكُمْfawqikum

وَمِنْwamin

أَسْفَلَasfala

مِنكُمْminkum

وَإِذْwaith

زَاغَتِzaghati

ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُalabsaru

وَبَلَغَتِwabalaghati

ٱلْقُلُوبُalquloobu

ٱلْحَنَاجِرَalhanajira

وَتَظُنُّونَwatathunnoona

بِٱللَّهِbiAllahi

ٱلظُّنُونَا۠alththunoona

33:11

Open Ayah

هُنَالِكَٱبۡتُلِيَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَوَزُلۡزِلُواْزِلۡزَالٗاشَدِيدٗا١١

Saheeh International

There the believers were tested and shaken with a severe shaking.

هُنَالِكَHunalika

ٱبْتُلِىَibtuliya

ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَalmuminoona

وَزُلْزِلُوا۟wazulziloo

زِلْزَالًۭاzilzalan

شَدِيدًۭاshadeedan

40:18

Open Ayah

وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡيَوۡمَٱلۡأٓزِفَةِإِذِٱلۡقُلُوبُلَدَىٱلۡحَنَاجِرِكَٰظِمِينَۚمَالِلظَّٰلِمِينَمِنۡحَمِيمٖوَلَاشَفِيعٖيُطَاعُ١٨

Saheeh International

And warn them, [O Muḥammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed.

وَأَنذِرْهُمْWaanthirhum

يَوْمَyawma

ٱلْـَٔازِفَةِalazifati

إِذِithi

ٱلْقُلُوبُalquloobu

لَدَىlada

ٱلْحَنَاجِرِalhanajiri

كَـٰظِمِينَ ۚkathimeena

مَاma

لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَlilththalimeena

مِنْmin

حَمِيمٍۢhameemin

وَلَاwala

شَفِيعٍۢshafeeAAin

يُطَاعُyutaAAu

56:83

Open Ayah

فَلَوۡلَآإِذَابَلَغَتِٱلۡحُلۡقُومَ٨٣

Saheeh International

Then why, when it [i.e., the soul at death] reaches the throat

فَلَوْلَآFalawla

إِذَاitha

بَلَغَتِbalaghati

ٱلْحُلْقُومَalhulqooma

56:84

Open Ayah

وَأَنتُمۡحِينَئِذٖتَنظُرُونَ٨٤

Saheeh International

And you are at that time looking on -

وَأَنتُمْWaantum

حِينَئِذٍۢheenaithin

تَنظُرُونَtanthuroona

56:85

Open Ayah

وَنَحۡنُأَقۡرَبُإِلَيۡهِمِنكُمۡوَلَٰكِنلَّاتُبۡصِرُونَ٨٥

Saheeh International

And We [i.e., Our angels] are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

وَنَحْنُWanahnu

أَقْرَبُaqrabu

إِلَيْهِilayhi

مِنكُمْminkum

وَلَـٰكِنwalakin

لَّاla

تُبْصِرُونَtubsiroona

56:86

Open Ayah

فَلَوۡلَآإِنكُنتُمۡغَيۡرَمَدِينِينَ٨٦

Saheeh International

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

فَلَوْلَآFalawla

إِنin

كُنتُمْkuntum

غَيْرَghayra

مَدِينِينَmadeeneena

56:87

Open Ayah

تَرۡجِعُونَهَآإِنكُنتُمۡصَٰدِقِينَ٨٧

Saheeh International

Bring it back,¹ if you should be truthful?

تَرْجِعُونَهَآTarjiAAoonaha

إِنin

كُنتُمْkuntum

صَـٰدِقِينَsadiqeena
