إِنَّفِيخَلۡقِٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِوَٱلۡأَرۡضِوَٱخۡتِلَٰفِٱلَّيۡلِوَٱلنَّهَارِوَٱلۡفُلۡكِٱلَّتِيتَجۡرِيفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِبِمَايَنفَعُٱلنَّاسَوَمَآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُمِنَٱلسَّمَآءِمِنمَّآءٖفَأَحۡيَابِهِٱلۡأَرۡضَبَعۡدَمَوۡتِهَاوَبَثَّفِيهَامِنكُلِّدَآبَّةٖوَتَصۡرِيفِٱلرِّيَٰحِوَٱلسَّحَابِٱلۡمُسَخَّرِبَيۡنَٱلسَّمَآءِوَٱلۡأَرۡضِلَأٓيَٰتٖلِّقَوۡمٖيَعۡقِلُونَ١٦٤
Saheeh International

Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allāh has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and earth are signs for a people who use reason.

إِنَّInna
فِىfee
خَلْقِkhalqi
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِalssamawati
وَٱلْأَرْضِwaalardi
وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِwaikhtilafi
ٱلَّيْلِallayli
وَٱلنَّهَارِwaalnnahari
وَٱلْفُلْكِwaalfulki
ٱلَّتِىallatee
تَجْرِىtajree
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
بِمَاbima
يَنفَعُyanfaAAu
ٱلنَّاسَalnnasa
وَمَآwama
أَنزَلَanzala
ٱللَّهُAllahu
مِنَmina
ٱلسَّمَآءِalssamai
مِنmin
مَّآءٍۢmain
فَأَحْيَاfaahya
بِهِbihi
ٱلْأَرْضَalarda
بَعْدَbaAAda
مَوْتِهَاmawtiha
وَبَثَّwabaththa
فِيهَاfeeha
مِنmin
كُلِّkulli
دَآبَّةٍۢdabbatin
وَتَصْرِيفِwatasreefi
ٱلرِّيَـٰحِalrriyahi
وَٱلسَّحَابِwaalssahabi
ٱلْمُسَخَّرِalmusakhkhari
بَيْنَbayna
ٱلسَّمَآءِalssamai
وَٱلْأَرْضِwaalardi
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaayatin
لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawmin
يَعْقِلُونَyaAAqiloona
وَإِذۡفَرَقۡنَابِكُمُٱلۡبَحۡرَفَأَنجَيۡنَٰكُمۡوَأَغۡرَقۡنَآءَالَفِرۡعَوۡنَوَأَنتُمۡتَنظُرُونَ٥٠
Saheeh International

And [recall] when We parted the sea for you and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh while you were looking on.

وَإِذْWaith
فَرَقْنَاfaraqna
بِكُمُbikumu
ٱلْبَحْرَalbahra
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰكُمْfaanjaynakum
وَأَغْرَقْنَآwaaghraqna
ءَالَala
فِرْعَوْنَfirAAawna
وَأَنتُمْwaantum
تَنظُرُونَtanthuroona
أُحِلَّلَكُمۡصَيۡدُٱلۡبَحۡرِوَطَعَامُهُۥمَتَٰعٗالَّكُمۡوَلِلسَّيَّارَةِۖوَحُرِّمَعَلَيۡكُمۡصَيۡدُٱلۡبَرِّمَادُمۡتُمۡحُرُمٗاۗوَٱتَّقُواْٱللَّهَٱلَّذِيٓإِلَيۡهِتُحۡشَرُونَ٩٦
Saheeh International

Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers,1 but forbidden to you is game from the land as long as you are in the state of iḥrām. And fear Allāh to whom you will be gathered.

أُحِلَّOhilla
لَكُمْlakum
صَيْدُsaydu
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
وَطَعَامُهُۥwataAAamuhu
مَتَـٰعًۭاmataAAan
لَّكُمْlakum
وَلِلسَّيَّارَةِ ۖwalilssayyarati
وَحُرِّمَwahurrima
عَلَيْكُمْAAalaykum
صَيْدُsaydu
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
مَاma
دُمْتُمْdumtum
حُرُمًۭا ۗhuruman
وَٱتَّقُوا۟waittaqoo
ٱللَّهَAllaha
ٱلَّذِىٓallathee
إِلَيْهِilayhi
تُحْشَرُونَtuhsharoona
۞ وَعِندَهُۥمَفَاتِحُٱلۡغَيۡبِلَايَعۡلَمُهَآإِلَّاهُوَۚوَيَعۡلَمُمَافِيٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِۚوَمَاتَسۡقُطُمِنوَرَقَةٍإِلَّايَعۡلَمُهَاوَلَاحَبَّةٖفِيظُلُمَٰتِٱلۡأَرۡضِوَلَارَطۡبٖوَلَايَابِسٍإِلَّافِيكِتَٰبٖمُّبِينٖ٥٩
Saheeh International

And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.

۞ وَعِندَهُۥWaAAindahu
مَفَاتِحُmafatihu
ٱلْغَيْبِalghaybi
لَاla
يَعْلَمُهَآyaAAlamuha
إِلَّاilla
هُوَ ۚhuwa
وَيَعْلَمُwayaAAlamu
مَاma
فِىfee
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۚwaalbahri
وَمَاwama
تَسْقُطُtasqutu
مِنmin
وَرَقَةٍwaraqatin
إِلَّاilla
يَعْلَمُهَاyaAAlamuha
وَلَاwala
حَبَّةٍۢhabbatin
فِىfee
ظُلُمَـٰتِthulumati
ٱلْأَرْضِalardi
وَلَاwala
رَطْبٍۢratbin
وَلَاwala
يَابِسٍyabisin
إِلَّاilla
فِىfee
كِتَـٰبٍۢkitabin
مُّبِينٍۢmubeenin
قُلۡمَنيُنَجِّيكُممِّنظُلُمَٰتِٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِتَدۡعُونَهُۥتَضَرُّعٗاوَخُفۡيَةٗلَّئِنۡأَنجَىٰنَامِنۡهَٰذِهِۦلَنَكُونَنَّمِنَٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ٦٣
Saheeh International

Say, "Who rescues you from the darknesses of the land and sea [when] you call upon Him imploring [aloud] and privately, 'If He should save us from this [crisis], we will surely be among the thankful.'"

قُلْQul
مَنman
يُنَجِّيكُمyunajjeekum
مِّنmin
ظُلُمَـٰتِthulumati
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِwaalbahri
تَدْعُونَهُۥtadAAoonahu
تَضَرُّعًۭاtadarruAAan
وَخُفْيَةًۭwakhufyatan
لَّئِنْlain
أَنجَىٰنَاanjana
مِنْmin
هَـٰذِهِۦhathihi
لَنَكُونَنَّlanakoonanna
مِنَmina
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَalshshakireena
وَجَٰوَزۡنَابِبَنِيٓإِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَٱلۡبَحۡرَفَأَتَوۡاْعَلَىٰقَوۡمٖيَعۡكُفُونَعَلَىٰٓأَصۡنَامٖلَّهُمۡۚقَالُواْيَٰمُوسَىٱجۡعَللَّنَآإِلَٰهٗاكَمَالَهُمۡءَالِهَةٞۚقَالَإِنَّكُمۡقَوۡمٞتَجۡهَلُونَ١٣٨
Saheeh International

And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then they came upon a people intent in devotion to [some] idols of theirs. They [the Children of Israel] said, "O Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods." He said, "Indeed, you are a people behaving ignorantly.

وَجَـٰوَزْنَاWajawazna
بِبَنِىٓbibanee
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَisraeela
ٱلْبَحْرَalbahra
فَأَتَوْا۟faataw
عَلَىٰAAala
قَوْمٍۢqawmin
يَعْكُفُونَyaAAkufoona
عَلَىٰٓAAala
أَصْنَامٍۢasnamin
لَّهُمْ ۚlahum
قَالُوا۟qaloo
يَـٰمُوسَىyamoosa
ٱجْعَلijAAal
لَّنَآlana
إِلَـٰهًۭاilahan
كَمَاkama
لَهُمْlahum
ءَالِهَةٌۭ ۚalihatun
قَالَqala
إِنَّكُمْinnakum
قَوْمٌۭqawmun
تَجْهَلُونَtajhaloona
وَسۡـَٔلۡهُمۡعَنِٱلۡقَرۡيَةِٱلَّتِيكَانَتۡحَاضِرَةَٱلۡبَحۡرِإِذۡيَعۡدُونَفِيٱلسَّبۡتِإِذۡتَأۡتِيهِمۡحِيتَانُهُمۡيَوۡمَسَبۡتِهِمۡشُرَّعٗاوَيَوۡمَلَايَسۡبِتُونَلَاتَأۡتِيهِمۡۚكَذَٰلِكَنَبۡلُوهُمبِمَاكَانُواْيَفۡسُقُونَ١٦٣
Saheeh International

And ask them about the town that was by the sea - when they transgressed in [the matter of] the sabbath - when their fish came to them openly on their sabbath day, and the day they had no sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient.

وَسْـَٔلْهُمْWaisalhum
عَنِAAani
ٱلْقَرْيَةِalqaryati
ٱلَّتِىallatee
كَانَتْkanat
حَاضِرَةَhadirata
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
إِذْith
يَعْدُونَyaAAdoona
فِىfee
ٱلسَّبْتِalssabti
إِذْith
تَأْتِيهِمْtateehim
حِيتَانُهُمْheetanuhum
يَوْمَyawma
سَبْتِهِمْsabtihim
شُرَّعًۭاshurraAAan
وَيَوْمَwayawma
لَاla
يَسْبِتُونَ ۙyasbitoona
لَاla
تَأْتِيهِمْ ۚtateehim
كَذَٰلِكَkathalika
نَبْلُوهُمnabloohum
بِمَاbima
كَانُوا۟kanoo
يَفْسُقُونَyafsuqoona
هُوَٱلَّذِييُسَيِّرُكُمۡفِيٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِۖحَتَّىٰٓإِذَاكُنتُمۡفِيٱلۡفُلۡكِوَجَرَيۡنَبِهِمبِرِيحٖطَيِّبَةٖوَفَرِحُواْبِهَاجَآءَتۡهَارِيحٌعَاصِفٞوَجَآءَهُمُٱلۡمَوۡجُمِنكُلِّمَكَانٖوَظَنُّوٓاْأَنَّهُمۡأُحِيطَبِهِمۡدَعَوُاْٱللَّهَمُخۡلِصِينَلَهُٱلدِّينَلَئِنۡأَنجَيۡتَنَامِنۡهَٰذِهِۦلَنَكُونَنَّمِنَٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ٢٢
Saheeh International

It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them1 by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from every place and they expect to be engulfed, they supplicate Allāh, sincere to Him in religion, "If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful."

هُوَHuwa
ٱلَّذِىallathee
يُسَيِّرُكُمْyusayyirukum
فِىfee
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖwaalbahri
حَتَّىٰٓhatta
إِذَاitha
كُنتُمْkuntum
فِىfee
ٱلْفُلْكِalfulki
وَجَرَيْنَwajarayna
بِهِمbihim
بِرِيحٍۢbireehin
طَيِّبَةٍۢtayyibatin
وَفَرِحُوا۟wafarihoo
بِهَاbiha
جَآءَتْهَاjaatha
رِيحٌreehun
عَاصِفٌۭAAasifun
وَجَآءَهُمُwajaahumu
ٱلْمَوْجُalmawju
مِنmin
كُلِّkulli
مَكَانٍۢmakanin
وَظَنُّوٓا۟wathannoo
أَنَّهُمْannahum
أُحِيطَoheeta
بِهِمْ ۙbihim
دَعَوُا۟daAAawoo
ٱللَّهَAllaha
مُخْلِصِينَmukhliseena
لَهُlahu
ٱلدِّينَalddeena
لَئِنْlain
أَنجَيْتَنَاanjaytana
مِنْmin
هَـٰذِهِۦhathihi
لَنَكُونَنَّlanakoonanna
مِنَmina
ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَalshshakireena
۞ وَجَٰوَزۡنَابِبَنِيٓإِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَٱلۡبَحۡرَفَأَتۡبَعَهُمۡفِرۡعَوۡنُوَجُنُودُهُۥبَغۡيٗاوَعَدۡوًاۖحَتَّىٰٓإِذَآأَدۡرَكَهُٱلۡغَرَقُقَالَءَامَنتُأَنَّهُۥلَآإِلَٰهَإِلَّاٱلَّذِيٓءَامَنَتۡبِهِۦبَنُوٓاْإِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَوَأَنَا۠مِنَٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ٩٠
Saheeh International

And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims."

۞ وَجَـٰوَزْنَاWajawazna
بِبَنِىٓbibanee
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَisraeela
ٱلْبَحْرَalbahra
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْfaatbaAAahum
فِرْعَوْنُfirAAawnu
وَجُنُودُهُۥwajunooduhu
بَغْيًۭاbaghyan
وَعَدْوًا ۖwaAAadwan
حَتَّىٰٓhatta
إِذَآitha
أَدْرَكَهُadrakahu
ٱلْغَرَقُalgharaqu
قَالَqala
ءَامَنتُamantu
أَنَّهُۥannahu
لَآla
إِلَـٰهَilaha
إِلَّاilla
ٱلَّذِىٓallathee
ءَامَنَتْamanat
بِهِۦbihi
بَنُوٓا۟banoo
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَisraeela
وَأَنَا۠waana
مِنَmina
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَalmuslimeena
ٱللَّهُٱلَّذِيخَلَقَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِوَٱلۡأَرۡضَوَأَنزَلَمِنَٱلسَّمَآءِمَآءٗفَأَخۡرَجَبِهِۦمِنَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِرِزۡقٗالَّكُمۡۖوَسَخَّرَلَكُمُٱلۡفُلۡكَلِتَجۡرِيَفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِبِأَمۡرِهِۦۖوَسَخَّرَلَكُمُٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرَ٣٢
Saheeh International

It is Allāh who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky and produced thereby some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you1 the ships to sail through the sea by His command and subjected for you the rivers.

ٱللَّهُAllahu
ٱلَّذِىallathee
خَلَقَkhalaqa
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِalssamawati
وَٱلْأَرْضَwaalarda
وَأَنزَلَwaanzala
مِنَmina
ٱلسَّمَآءِalssamai
مَآءًۭmaan
فَأَخْرَجَfaakhraja
بِهِۦbihi
مِنَmina
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِalththamarati
رِزْقًۭاrizqan
لَّكُمْ ۖlakum
وَسَخَّرَwasakhkhara
لَكُمُlakumu
ٱلْفُلْكَalfulka
لِتَجْرِىَlitajriya
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
بِأَمْرِهِۦ ۖbiamrihi
وَسَخَّرَwasakhkhara
لَكُمُlakumu
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَalanhara
وَهُوَٱلَّذِيسَخَّرَٱلۡبَحۡرَلِتَأۡكُلُواْمِنۡهُلَحۡمٗاطَرِيّٗاوَتَسۡتَخۡرِجُواْمِنۡهُحِلۡيَةٗتَلۡبَسُونَهَاۖوَتَرَىٱلۡفُلۡكَمَوَاخِرَفِيهِوَلِتَبۡتَغُواْمِنفَضۡلِهِۦوَلَعَلَّكُمۡتَشۡكُرُونَ١٤
Saheeh International

And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.

وَهُوَWahuwa
ٱلَّذِىallathee
سَخَّرَsakhkhara
ٱلْبَحْرَalbahra
لِتَأْكُلُوا۟litakuloo
مِنْهُminhu
لَحْمًۭاlahman
طَرِيًّۭاtariyyan
وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟watastakhrijoo
مِنْهُminhu
حِلْيَةًۭhilyatan
تَلْبَسُونَهَاtalbasoonaha
وَتَرَىwatara
ٱلْفُلْكَalfulka
مَوَاخِرَmawakhira
فِيهِfeehi
وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟walitabtaghoo
مِنmin
فَضْلِهِۦfadlihi
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaAAallakum
تَشْكُرُونَtashkuroona
رَّبُّكُمُٱلَّذِييُزۡجِيلَكُمُٱلۡفُلۡكَفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِلِتَبۡتَغُواْمِنفَضۡلِهِۦٓۚإِنَّهُۥكَانَبِكُمۡرَحِيمٗا٦٦
Saheeh International

It is your Lord who drives the ship for you through the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful.

رَّبُّكُمُRabbukumu
ٱلَّذِىallathee
يُزْجِىyuzjee
لَكُمُlakumu
ٱلْفُلْكَalfulka
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
لِتَبْتَغُوا۟litabtaghoo
مِنmin
فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚfadlihi
إِنَّهُۥinnahu
كَانَkana
بِكُمْbikum
رَحِيمًۭاraheeman
وَإِذَامَسَّكُمُٱلضُّرُّفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِضَلَّمَنتَدۡعُونَإِلَّآإِيَّاهُۖفَلَمَّانَجَّىٰكُمۡإِلَىٱلۡبَرِّأَعۡرَضۡتُمۡۚوَكَانَٱلۡإِنسَٰنُكَفُورًا٦٧
Saheeh International

And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful.

وَإِذَاWaitha
مَسَّكُمُmassakumu
ٱلضُّرُّalddurru
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
ضَلَّdalla
مَنman
تَدْعُونَtadAAoona
إِلَّآilla
إِيَّاهُ ۖiyyahu
فَلَمَّاfalamma
نَجَّىٰكُمْnajjakum
إِلَىila
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
أَعْرَضْتُمْ ۚaAAradtum
وَكَانَwakana
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُalinsanu
كَفُورًاkafooran
۞ وَلَقَدۡكَرَّمۡنَابَنِيٓءَادَمَوَحَمَلۡنَٰهُمۡفِيٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِوَرَزَقۡنَٰهُممِّنَٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِوَفَضَّلۡنَٰهُمۡعَلَىٰكَثِيرٖمِّمَّنۡخَلَقۡنَاتَفۡضِيلٗا٧٠
Saheeh International

And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.

۞ وَلَقَدْWalaqad
كَرَّمْنَاkarramna
بَنِىٓbanee
ءَادَمَadama
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُمْwahamalnahum
فِىfee
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِwaalbahri
وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُمwarazaqnahum
مِّنَmina
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِalttayyibati
وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْwafaddalnahum
عَلَىٰAAala
كَثِيرٍۢkatheerin
مِّمَّنْmimman
خَلَقْنَاkhalaqna
تَفْضِيلًۭاtafdeelan
18:109
Open Ayah
قُللَّوۡكَانَٱلۡبَحۡرُمِدَادٗالِّكَلِمَٰتِرَبِّيلَنَفِدَٱلۡبَحۡرُقَبۡلَأَنتَنفَدَكَلِمَٰتُرَبِّيوَلَوۡجِئۡنَابِمِثۡلِهِۦمَدَدٗا١٠٩
Saheeh International

Say, "If the sea were ink for [writing] the words1 of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it in [continual] supplement."

قُلQul
لَّوْlaw
كَانَkana
ٱلْبَحْرُalbahru
مِدَادًۭاmidadan
لِّكَلِمَـٰتِlikalimati
رَبِّىrabbee
لَنَفِدَlanafida
ٱلْبَحْرُalbahru
قَبْلَqabla
أَنan
تَنفَدَtanfada
كَلِمَـٰتُkalimatu
رَبِّىrabbee
وَلَوْwalaw
جِئْنَاjina
بِمِثْلِهِۦbimithlihi
مَدَدًۭاmadadan
وَإِذۡقَالَمُوسَىٰلِفَتَىٰهُلَآأَبۡرَحُحَتَّىٰٓأَبۡلُغَمَجۡمَعَٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِأَوۡأَمۡضِيَحُقُبٗا٦٠
Saheeh International

And [mention] when Moses said to his boy [i.e., servant], "I will not cease [traveling] until I reach the junction of the two seas or continue for a long period."

وَإِذْWaith
قَالَqala
مُوسَىٰmoosa
لِفَتَىٰهُlifatahu
لَآla
أَبْرَحُabrahu
حَتَّىٰٓhatta
أَبْلُغَablugha
مَجْمَعَmajmaAAa
ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِalbahrayni
أَوْaw
أَمْضِىَamdiya
حُقُبًۭاhuquban
فَلَمَّابَلَغَامَجۡمَعَبَيۡنِهِمَانَسِيَاحُوتَهُمَافَٱتَّخَذَسَبِيلَهُۥفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِسَرَبٗا٦١
Saheeh International

But when they reached the junction between them, they forgot their fish, and it took its course into the sea, slipping away.

فَلَمَّاFalamma
بَلَغَاbalagha
مَجْمَعَmajmaAAa
بَيْنِهِمَاbaynihima
نَسِيَاnasiya
حُوتَهُمَاhootahuma
فَٱتَّخَذَfaittakhatha
سَبِيلَهُۥsabeelahu
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
سَرَبًۭاsaraban
قَالَأَرَءَيۡتَإِذۡأَوَيۡنَآإِلَىٱلصَّخۡرَةِفَإِنِّينَسِيتُٱلۡحُوتَوَمَآأَنسَىٰنِيهُإِلَّاٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُأَنۡأَذۡكُرَهُۥۚوَٱتَّخَذَسَبِيلَهُۥفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِعَجَبٗا٦٣
Saheeh International

He said, "Did you see when we retired to the rock? Indeed, I forgot [there] the fish. And none made me forget it except Satan - that I should mention it. And it took its course into the sea amazingly."

قَالَQala
أَرَءَيْتَaraayta
إِذْith
أَوَيْنَآawayna
إِلَىila
ٱلصَّخْرَةِalssakhrati
فَإِنِّىfainnee
نَسِيتُnaseetu
ٱلْحُوتَalhoota
وَمَآwama
أَنسَىٰنِيهُansaneehu
إِلَّاilla
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُalshshaytanu
أَنْan
أَذْكُرَهُۥ ۚathkurahu
وَٱتَّخَذَwaittakhatha
سَبِيلَهُۥsabeelahu
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
عَجَبًۭاAAajaban
أَمَّاٱلسَّفِينَةُفَكَانَتۡلِمَسَٰكِينَيَعۡمَلُونَفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِفَأَرَدتُّأَنۡأَعِيبَهَاوَكَانَوَرَآءَهُممَّلِكٞيَأۡخُذُكُلَّسَفِينَةٍغَصۡبٗا٧٩
Saheeh International

As for the ship, it belonged to poor people working at sea. So I intended to cause defect in it as there was after them a king who seized every [good] ship by force.

أَمَّاAmma
ٱلسَّفِينَةُalssafeenatu
فَكَانَتْfakanat
لِمَسَـٰكِينَlimasakeena
يَعْمَلُونَyaAAmaloona
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
فَأَرَدتُّfaaradtu
أَنْan
أَعِيبَهَاaAAeebaha
وَكَانَwakana
وَرَآءَهُمwaraahum
مَّلِكٌۭmalikun
يَأْخُذُyakhuthu
كُلَّkulla
سَفِينَةٍsafeenatin
غَصْبًۭاghasban
وَلَقَدۡأَوۡحَيۡنَآإِلَىٰمُوسَىٰٓأَنۡأَسۡرِبِعِبَادِيفَٱضۡرِبۡلَهُمۡطَرِيقٗافِيٱلۡبَحۡرِيَبَسٗالَّاتَخَٰفُدَرَكٗاوَلَاتَخۡشَىٰ٧٧
Saheeh International

And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."

وَلَقَدْWalaqad
أَوْحَيْنَآawhayna
إِلَىٰila
مُوسَىٰٓmoosa
أَنْan
أَسْرِasri
بِعِبَادِىbiAAibadee
فَٱضْرِبْfaidrib
لَهُمْlahum
طَرِيقًۭاtareeqan
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
يَبَسًۭاyabasan
لَّاla
تَخَـٰفُtakhafu
دَرَكًۭاdarakan
وَلَاwala
تَخْشَىٰtakhsha
أَلَمۡتَرَأَنَّٱللَّهَسَخَّرَلَكُممَّافِيٱلۡأَرۡضِوَٱلۡفُلۡكَتَجۡرِيفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِبِأَمۡرِهِۦوَيُمۡسِكُٱلسَّمَآءَأَنتَقَعَعَلَىٱلۡأَرۡضِإِلَّابِإِذۡنِهِۦٓۚإِنَّٱللَّهَبِٱلنَّاسِلَرَءُوفٞرَّحِيمٞ٦٥
Saheeh International

Do you not see that Allāh has subjected to you whatever is on the earth and the ships which run through the sea by His command? And He restrains the sky from falling upon the earth, unless by His permission. Indeed Allāh, to the people, is Kind and Merciful.

أَلَمْAlam

أَنَّanna
ٱللَّهَAllaha
سَخَّرَsakhkhara
لَكُمlakum
مَّاma
فِىfee
ٱلْأَرْضِalardi
وَٱلْفُلْكَwaalfulka
تَجْرِىtajree
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
بِأَمْرِهِۦbiamrihi
وَيُمْسِكُwayumsiku
ٱلسَّمَآءَalssamaa
أَنan
تَقَعَtaqaAAa
عَلَىAAala
ٱلْأَرْضِalardi
إِلَّاilla
بِإِذْنِهِۦٓ ۗbiithnihi
إِنَّinna
ٱللَّهَAllaha
بِٱلنَّاسِbialnnasi
لَرَءُوفٌۭlaraoofun
رَّحِيمٌۭraheemun
أَوۡكَظُلُمَٰتٖفِيبَحۡرٖلُّجِّيّٖيَغۡشَىٰهُمَوۡجٞمِّنفَوۡقِهِۦمَوۡجٞمِّنفَوۡقِهِۦسَحَابٞۚظُلُمَٰتُۢبَعۡضُهَافَوۡقَبَعۡضٍإِذَآأَخۡرَجَيَدَهُۥلَمۡيَكَدۡيَرَىٰهَاۗوَمَنلَّمۡيَجۡعَلِٱللَّهُلَهُۥنُورٗافَمَالَهُۥمِننُّورٍ٤٠
Saheeh International

Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allāh has not granted light - for him there is no light.

أَوْAw
كَظُلُمَـٰتٍۢkathulumatin
فِىfee
بَحْرٍۢbahrin
لُّجِّىٍّۢlujjiyyin
يَغْشَىٰهُyaghshahu
مَوْجٌۭmawjun
مِّنmin
فَوْقِهِۦfawqihi
مَوْجٌۭmawjun
مِّنmin
فَوْقِهِۦfawqihi
سَحَابٌۭ ۚsahabun
ظُلُمَـٰتٌۢthulumatun
بَعْضُهَاbaAAduha
فَوْقَfawqa
بَعْضٍbaAAdin
إِذَآitha
أَخْرَجَakhraja
يَدَهُۥyadahu
لَمْlam
يَكَدْyakad
يَرَىٰهَا ۗyaraha
وَمَنwaman
لَّمْlam
يَجْعَلِyajAAali
ٱللَّهُAllahu
لَهُۥlahu
نُورًۭاnooran
فَمَاfama
لَهُۥlahu
مِنmin
نُّورٍnoorin
فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآإِلَىٰمُوسَىٰٓأَنِٱضۡرِببِّعَصَاكَٱلۡبَحۡرَۖفَٱنفَلَقَفَكَانَكُلُّفِرۡقٖكَٱلطَّوۡدِٱلۡعَظِيمِ٦٣
Saheeh International

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

فَأَوْحَيْنَآFaawhayna
إِلَىٰila
مُوسَىٰٓmoosa
أَنِani
ٱضْرِبidrib
بِّعَصَاكَbiAAasaka
ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖalbahra
فَٱنفَلَقَfainfalaqa
فَكَانَfakana
كُلُّkullu
فِرْقٍۢfirqin
كَٱلطَّوْدِkaalttawdi
ٱلْعَظِيمِalAAatheemi
أَمَّنيَهۡدِيكُمۡفِيظُلُمَٰتِٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِوَمَنيُرۡسِلُٱلرِّيَٰحَبُشۡرَۢابَيۡنَيَدَيۡرَحۡمَتِهِۦٓۗأَءِلَٰهٞمَّعَٱللَّهِۚتَعَٰلَىٱللَّهُعَمَّايُشۡرِكُونَ٦٣
Saheeh International

Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allāh? High is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.

أَمَّنAmman
يَهْدِيكُمْyahdeekum
فِىfee
ظُلُمَـٰتِthulumati
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِwaalbahri
وَمَنwaman
يُرْسِلُyursilu
ٱلرِّيَـٰحَalrriyaha
بُشْرًۢاbushran
بَيْنَbayna
يَدَىْyaday
رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ ۗrahmatihi
أَءِلَـٰهٌۭailahun
مَّعَmaAAa
ٱللَّهِ ۚAllahi
تَعَـٰلَىtaAAala
ٱللَّهُAllahu
عَمَّاAAamma
يُشْرِكُونَyushrikoona
ظَهَرَٱلۡفَسَادُفِيٱلۡبَرِّوَٱلۡبَحۡرِبِمَاكَسَبَتۡأَيۡدِيٱلنَّاسِلِيُذِيقَهُمبَعۡضَٱلَّذِيعَمِلُواْلَعَلَّهُمۡيَرۡجِعُونَ٤١
Saheeh International

Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He [i.e., Allāh] may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].

ظَهَرَThahara
ٱلْفَسَادُalfasadu
فِىfee
ٱلْبَرِّalbarri
وَٱلْبَحْرِwaalbahri
بِمَاbima
كَسَبَتْkasabat
أَيْدِىaydee
ٱلنَّاسِalnnasi
لِيُذِيقَهُمliyutheeqahum
بَعْضَbaAAda
ٱلَّذِىallathee
عَمِلُوا۟AAamiloo
لَعَلَّهُمْlaAAallahum
يَرْجِعُونَyarjiAAoona
وَلَوۡأَنَّمَافِيٱلۡأَرۡضِمِنشَجَرَةٍأَقۡلَٰمٞوَٱلۡبَحۡرُيَمُدُّهُۥمِنۢبَعۡدِهِۦسَبۡعَةُأَبۡحُرٖمَّانَفِدَتۡكَلِمَٰتُٱللَّهِۚإِنَّٱللَّهَعَزِيزٌحَكِيمٞ٢٧
Saheeh International

And if whatever trees upon the earth were pens and the sea [was ink], replenished thereafter by seven [more] seas, the words1 of Allāh would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

وَلَوْWalaw
أَنَّمَاannama
فِىfee
ٱلْأَرْضِalardi
مِنmin
شَجَرَةٍshajaratin
أَقْلَـٰمٌۭaqlamun
وَٱلْبَحْرُwaalbahru
يَمُدُّهُۥyamudduhu
مِنۢmin
بَعْدِهِۦbaAAdihi
سَبْعَةُsabAAatu
أَبْحُرٍۢabhurin
مَّاma
نَفِدَتْnafidat
كَلِمَـٰتُkalimatu
ٱللَّهِ ۗAllahi
إِنَّinna
ٱللَّهَAllaha
عَزِيزٌAAazeezun
حَكِيمٌۭhakeemun
أَلَمۡتَرَأَنَّٱلۡفُلۡكَتَجۡرِيفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِبِنِعۡمَتِٱللَّهِلِيُرِيَكُممِّنۡءَايَٰتِهِۦٓۚإِنَّفِيذَٰلِكَلَأٓيَٰتٖلِّكُلِّصَبَّارٖشَكُورٖ٣١
Saheeh International

Do you not see that ships sail through the sea by the favor of Allāh that He may show you of His signs? Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

أَلَمْAlam
تَرَtara
أَنَّanna
ٱلْفُلْكَalfulka
تَجْرِىtajree
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
بِنِعْمَتِbiniAAmati
ٱللَّهِAllahi
لِيُرِيَكُمliyuriyakum
مِّنْmin
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚayatihi
إِنَّinna
فِىfee
ذَٰلِكَthalika
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaayatin
لِّكُلِّlikulli
صَبَّارٍۢsabbarin
شَكُورٍۢshakoorin
وَمِنۡءَايَٰتِهِٱلۡجَوَارِفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِكَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ٣٢
Saheeh International

And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains.

وَمِنْWamin
ءَايَـٰتِهِayatihi
ٱلْجَوَارِaljawari
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِkaalaAAlami
إِنيَشَأۡيُسۡكِنِٱلرِّيحَفَيَظۡلَلۡنَرَوَاكِدَعَلَىٰظَهۡرِهِۦٓۚإِنَّفِيذَٰلِكَلَأٓيَٰتٖلِّكُلِّصَبَّارٖشَكُورٍ٣٣
Saheeh International

If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

إِنIn
يَشَأْyasha
يُسْكِنِyuskini
ٱلرِّيحَalrreeha
فَيَظْلَلْنَfayathlalna
رَوَاكِدَrawakida
عَلَىٰAAala
ظَهْرِهِۦٓ ۚthahrihi
إِنَّinna
فِىfee
ذَٰلِكَthalika
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢlaayatin
لِّكُلِّlikulli
صَبَّارٍۢsabbarin
شَكُورٍshakoorin
۞ ٱللَّهُٱلَّذِيسَخَّرَلَكُمُٱلۡبَحۡرَلِتَجۡرِيَٱلۡفُلۡكُفِيهِبِأَمۡرِهِۦوَلِتَبۡتَغُواْمِنفَضۡلِهِۦوَلَعَلَّكُمۡتَشۡكُرُونَ١٢
Saheeh International

It is Allāh who subjected to you the sea so that ships may sail upon it by His command and that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.

۞ ٱللَّهُAllahu
ٱلَّذِىallathee
سَخَّرَsakhkhara
لَكُمُlakumu
ٱلْبَحْرَalbahra
لِتَجْرِىَlitajriya
ٱلْفُلْكُalfulku
فِيهِfeehi
بِأَمْرِهِۦbiamrihi
وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟walitabtaghoo
مِنmin
فَضْلِهِۦfadlihi
وَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaAAallakum
تَشْكُرُونَtashkuroona
وَٱلۡبَحۡرِٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ٦
Saheeh International

And [by] the sea set on fire,1

وَٱلْبَحْرِWaalbahri
ٱلْمَسْجُورِalmasjoori
وَلَهُٱلۡجَوَارِٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُفِيٱلۡبَحۡرِكَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ٢٤
Saheeh International

And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.

وَلَهُWalahu
ٱلْجَوَارِaljawari
ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُalmunshaatu
فِىfee
ٱلْبَحْرِalbahri
كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِkaalaAAlami
وَإِذَاٱلۡبِحَارُسُجِّرَتۡ٦
Saheeh International

And when the seas are filled with flame1

وَإِذَاWaitha
ٱلْبِحَارُalbiharu
سُجِّرَتْsujjirat
