Pious

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allāh, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakāh; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allāh¹ -

And We made it a deterrent punishment for those who were present and those who succeeded [them] and a lesson for those who fear Allāh.

And whatever good they do - never will it be denied them. And Allāh is Knowing of the righteous.

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden [i.e., Paradise] as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous

Have you not seen those who were told, "Restrain your hands [from fighting]¹ and establish prayer and give zakāh"? But then when battle was ordained for them, at once a party of them feared men as they fear Allāh or with [even] greater fear. They said, "Our Lord, why have You decreed upon us fighting? If only You had postponed [it for] us for a short time." Say, "The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allāh. And injustice will not be done to you, [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed]."

And We sent, following in their footsteps,¹ Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.

Said Moses to his people, "Seek help through Allāh and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allāh. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous."

O you who have believed, fight against those adjacent to you of the disbelievers and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allāh is with the righteous.

And [it is] an announcement from Allāh and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage¹ that Allāh is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allāh.² And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment.

Indeed, the number of months with Allāh is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allāh [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred.¹ That is the correct religion [i.e., way], so do not wrong yourselves during them.² And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allāh is with the righteous [who fear Him].

Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allāh loves the righteous [who fear Him].

Those who believe in Allāh and the Last Day would not ask permission of you to be excused from striving [i.e., fighting] with their wealth and their lives. And Allāh is Knowing of those who fear Him.

How can there be for the polytheists a treaty in the sight of Allāh and with His Messenger, except for those with whom you made a treaty at al-Masjid al-Ḥarām? So as long as they are upright toward you,¹ be upright toward them. Indeed, Allāh loves the righteous [who fear Him].

That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muḥammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.

The example [i.e., description] of Paradise, which the righteous have been promised, is [that] beneath it rivers flow. Its fruit is lasting, and its shade. That is the consequence for the righteous, and the consequence for the disbelievers is the Fire.

Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs,

And it will be said to those who feared Allāh, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -

Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the righteous -

And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allāh

She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allāh."

That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allāh.

Then We will save those who feared Allāh and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.

On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation

So, [O Muḥammad], We have only made it [i.e., the Qur’ān] easy in your tongue [i.e., the Arabic language] that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people.

And We have certainly sent down to you distinct verses¹ and examples from those who passed on before you and an admonition for those who fear Allāh.

Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination.

And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes¹ and make us a leader [i.e., example] for the righteous."

And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.

That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous.

Or should We treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allāh like the wicked?

This is a reminder. And indeed, for the righteous is a good place of return -

And the one who has brought the truth [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous.

And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān] before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,

Lest a soul should say,¹ "Oh, [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allāh and that I was among the mockers."

Or [lest] it say, "If only Allāh had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."

And Allāh will save those who feared Him by their attainment;¹ no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.

And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers],¹ We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.

And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline

And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.

Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous

Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place:

Indeed, they will never avail you against Allāh at all. And indeed, the wrongdoers are allies of one another; but Allāh is the protector of the righteous.

Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered,¹ rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord... [Are its inhabitants] like those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment¹ -
